Writing XML in Microsoft Word
One of the overall obstacles in introducting an XML standard in a company is the organizational resistance agains learning and editing XML. Most employees do not want to learn XML, because they are not interested and because it will not bring any new business value to them.
Subsequently most employees also refuse to spend many hours of training, learning how to navigate sophisticated XML editors and learn to understand why the <uicontrol> tag is important in specific parts of the content and why <codeblock> is important somewhere else.
To allow companies to adopt the DITA standard - and at the same time avoiding organizational resistance - DITA Exchange comes with a Microsoft Word editor for authoring XML content, whithout having to know anything about DITA or XML.
