Because DITA Exchange is a pure SharePoint Application, the implementation process on a customer server farm can take place without 'disturbing' the customer IT staff before the DITA Exchange solution shall be deployed in production.

DITA Exchange can be set up in a parallel process so that the training and configuration processes can be done on a server hosted by Content Technologies (CT), and then deployed to the customer server, when the complete installation has been accepted by the different user groups in the customer organization.

The existing customer SharePoint installation can continue to 'work' in parallel to the DITA Exchange process. Once the DITA Exchange process is completed, then the DITA Exchange installation can be backed up from the CT server and restored to the Customer Server - via standard SharePoint back-up/restore feature.
